Forward gluon production in hadron–hadron scattering with Pomeron loops

چکیده
We discuss new physical phenomena expected in particle production in hadron–hadron collisions at high energy, as a consequence of Pomeron loop effects in the evolution equations for the Color Glass Condensate. We focus on gluon production in asymmetric, ‘dilute–dense’, collisions : a dilute projectile scatters off a dense hadronic target, whose gluon distribution is highly evolved. This situation is representative for particle production in proton–proton collisions at forward rapidities (say, at LHC) and admits a dipole factorization similar to that of deep inelastic scattering (DIS). We show that at sufficiently large forward rapidities, where the Pomeron loop effects become important in the evolution of the target wavefunction, gluon production is dominated by ‘black spots’ (saturated gluon configurations) up to very large values of the transverse momentum, well above the average saturation momentum in the target. In this regime, the produced gluon spectrum exhibits diffusive scaling, so like DIS at sufficiently high energy. 1 Membre du Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), France. 2 On leave from the Fundamental Theoretical Physics group of the University of Liège. Production in Polarized pp Scattering with Polarized Gluon Distribution in the Proton
Based on the hard-scattering factorization which decomposes the diffractive structure function into a pomeron flux and a pomeron structure function, we study the single diffractive Λc production in polarized pp scattering: p + ~p → p + ~ Λc + X, which will be observed at forthcoming RHIC experiment. By analyzing the cross section and correlation of the spin polarization between the initial prot...
متن کاملForm of analyzing power and the determination of the basic parameters of hadron scattering amplitude ”
The determination of magnitudes of basic parameters of the high energy elastic scattering amplitude are examined at small momentum transfers with taking account of the Coulomb-hadron interference effects. An actual problem of the modern elementary particles physics, the research of strong interaction processes at large distances and high energies, is considered in the framework of different app...
متن کاملDiffractive gluon jet production at hadron colliders in the two-gluon exchange model
Following our recent paper on the calculations of diffractive quark jet production at hadron colliders, we present here the calculations of gluon jet production at hadron colliders in the two-gluon exchange parameterization of the Pomeron model. We use the helicity amplitude method to calculate the cross section formula. We find that for the gluon jet production the diffractive process is relat...
متن کاملResults on Hard Diffractive Production
The results of experiments at hadron colliders probing the structure of the pomeron through hard diffraction are reviewed. Some results on deep inelastic diffractive scattering obtained at HERA are also discussed and placed in perspective. By using a properly normalized pomeron flux factor in single diffraction dissociation, as dictated by unitarity, the pomeron emerges as a combination of vale...
متن کاملPhysics with tagged forward protons at the LHC
We emphasize the importance of tagging the outgoing forward protons to sharpen the predictions for New Physics at the LHC (such as the diffractive production of a light Higgs boson). The rescattering effects lead to a rich distinctive structure of the cross section as a function of the transverse momenta of the protons. We show that a study of the correlations between the proton transverse mome...
